Cytokeratin 7 has been found in columnar and glandular epithelium of the lung, cervix, breast, bile ducts and larger collecting ducts of the kidney. Occasionally staining of blood vessel cell walls, particularly endothelial cells, may be observed. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins consist of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed during differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. This type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the simple epithelia lining the cavities of the internal organs and in the gland ducts and blood vessels. The genes encoding the type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13. Alternative splicing may result in several transcript variants; however, not all variants have been fully described.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot, Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Flow Cytometry: 10ul per test Immunocytochemistry: 1:10 using isolated EVT cells fixed with 0.5% PFA at 4°C for 15 minutes followed by acetone at -20°C for 2 minutes. Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): Protease treatment of paraffin sections is required. Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:10 used with placental tissue (7um) fixed with acetone for 1 hour. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Hybridoma
Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.
Storage and Stability
Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Cytoskeletal proteins from cultured HeLa cells.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.1% BSA, 0.09% sodium azide. Labeled with Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC).
Purity
Purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by ion exchange chromatography from tissue culture supernatant.
Specificity
Recognizes human Cytokeratin 7.
