ST2 is a member of a superfamily containing the interleukin-1 receptor and the Toll-like receptors (TLRs). The TLRs are signaling molecules that recognize different microbial products during infection and serve as an important link between the innate and adaptive immune responses. ST2 was originally identified as a protein whose production was stimulated by various proliferation-inducing agents such as PDGF and FGF. More recently, it has been shown to negatively regulate IL-1 receptor and Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 signaling and to maintain endotoxin tolerance. It has been suggested that the inhibition of TLR4 signaling occurs through the association and sequestering of TLR adaptor molecules such as MyD88 and TIRAP.

Applications
Suitable for use in FLISA, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): Requires antigen retrieval by heat mediation with a citrate buffer (pH6). Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
Immunogen
Snthetic peptide corresponding to 16aa at the N-terminus of mouse ST2. Epitope: aa40-90. Species Sequence Homology: equine (74%) and bovine (67%)
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2. Labeled with Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC).
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes an epitope within the N-terminal region (NT) of mouse ST2. Species Crossreactivity: human and rat
