| AGO4 also known as EIF2C4 is involved in regulation of gene silencing via small RNA’s such as siRNA and miRNA. This protein contains both a PAZ and a PIWI domain characteristic of Argonaute family of proteins. Functionally Ago4 is the catalytic component of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC).
