| Angiotensinogen is a precursor of angiotensin-1,2, and 3; as a member of the serpin family, it is expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma. In response to lowered blood pressure, renin cleaves angiotensinogen and produce angiotensin-1. Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) further removes a dipeptide to produce the physiologically active peptide angiotensin-2. Angiotensin-2 is involved in regulating mineral balance and volume of body fluids, while angiotensin-3 stimulates aldosterone release. Defects in angiotensinogen have been linked to renal tubular dygenesis (RTD) and susceptibility to essential hypertension. | | | Catalog # | 029417 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunocytochemistry.
