| Bystin and tastin serve as cytoplasmic proteins that are required for trophinin to mediate cell-to-cell adhesion between trophoblastic and endometrial epithelial cells in human placenta. Although the trophinin gene is unique to mammals, the bystin gene (BYSL) is conserved across eukaryotes. It is shown that bystin influences the transition from silent trophectoderm to an active trophoblast through trophinin-mediated cell adhesion. It is also essential for embryonic stem cell survival and trophectoderm development in mouse. Bystin is demonstrated to play a key role in ribosomal biogenesis by processing 18S RNA in the 40S subunit in human cancer cells and mouse embryos. It is also reported that c-MYC targets BYSL, which corresponds with bystin-mediated, rapid protein synthesis, and subsequent cellular growth. | | | Catalog # | 029429 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
