COL8A2, Collagen alpha-2(VIII) chain, Endothelial collagen

This gene encodes the alpha 2 chain of type VIII collagen. The protein is a major component of the basement membrane of the corneal endothelium and forms homo- or heterotrimers with alpha 1 (VIII) type collagens. Defects in this gene are associated with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy and posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy type 2.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence and ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1:10-1:50 Immunofluorescence: 1:10-1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide mapping to a fragment of residues within amino acids 571-599 in the C-terminal region of human COL8A2, UniProt Accession: #P25067.

Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.09% sodium azide.
Purity
Purified by Protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human COL8A2.
