OXTR, Oxytocin receptor

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor family and acts as a receptor for oxytocin. Its activity is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. The oxytocin-oxytocin receptor system plays an important role in the uterus during parturition.

Applications

Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilutions

Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability

May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide mapping to a fragment of residues within amino acids 8-36 in the N-terminal region of human OXTR.

Form

Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.09% sodium azide.

Purity

Purified by Protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.
