Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1 beta (MIP-1b), also known as CCL4, is produced by macrophages and thought to induce inflammatory responses, including superoxide production by neutrophils. MIP-1a and MIP-1b can exist as a naturally occurring heterodimer has been shown to have antiviral activity against HSV-1.

Biological ActivityThe activity is calculated by the ability to chemoattract human blood monocytes at 20-100ng/ml.
Storage and StabilityLyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
