| ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter genes are involved in the regulation of the amount of dietary cholesterol retained in the body. The ABC transporter ABCG1 (ABC8) is expressed on the cell surface and in intracellular compartments of cholesterol-laden macrophages and is induced in monocyte-derived macrophages during cholesterol influx mediated by acetylated low-density lipoprotein. In contrast, lipid efflux in cholesterol-laden macrophages, mediated by the cholesterol acceptor HDL(3), suppresses the expression of ABCG1. | | | Catalog # | A0004-11H | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Not recommended for Immunoprecipitation.. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: Mouse peritoneal macrophages treated with 22-R-hydroxycholesterol and T0901317 (stimulating ABCG1 expression). Recognizes a band at ~75.6 kD | | Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | Store at 2-8°C. Do Not Freeze! Aliquots are stable for at least 3 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a liquid. Conjugated to HRP. No preservative added. | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | A synthetic peptide made to an internal region of human ABCG1 (between residues 300-400). | | Specificity | Recognizes human ABCG1. Species Crossreaactivity: Mouse. There is 100%/100% identity/homology of the immunogen used for this production and the human protein sequence. There is 84%/89% for mouse and 78%/88% for rat. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
