An enzymatically inactive member of the phosphoglucomutase gene superfamily, Aciculin is part of the cytoskeletal-extracellular matrix linkage where actin filaments terminate at the plasma membrane. The 60/63kD, microfilament-associated anchoring protein is concentrated in adherens-type junctions of keratinocytes and muscle cells, including smooth muscle dense plaques, cardiomyocyte intercalated discs, striated muscle costameres and myotendinous junctions. It associates with dystrophin and/or utrophin in various tissues and cell types (1). Smooth muscle cell and fibroblast Aciculin localizes to focal adhesions and along stress fibers. Some cell lines and in vivo cell types such as endothelial cells, do not express detectable amounts of Aciculin.

Applications	Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry, Immunoblot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilution	Immunocytochemistry: Ice-cold absolute methanol fixation
	Immunohistochemistry: Ice-cold acetone fixation of tissue sections. Does not stain glutaraldehyde or formaldehyde fixed sections.
	Immunoprecipitation: Denaturing and nondenaturing conditions
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
