| Alpha-actinin is a cytoskeletal protein located in the Z band/disc region of skeletal muscle where it cross-links with F-actin. The presence of alpha-actinin can be related to a condition known as congenital nemaline myopathy. This antibody does not recognize alpha- actinin in type IIa or IIb human muscle fibers, but will help detect this protein in type 1 muscle fibers. | | | Catalog # | A0762-01B | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 1:50-1:100 | | Immunohistochemistry: 1:40-1:80 for 1 hr. at RT | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | Western Blot: Skeletal muscle | | Immunohstochemistry (Frozen Unfixed): Normal human striated muscle frozen in isopentane chilled in liquid nitrogen. Staining pattern-striations localized to the Z disc in longitudinal sections. | | Storage and Stability | Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | RBC2/1B6 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a lyophilized powder in 15mM sodium azide. Reconstitute with 1ml dH2O. | | Purity | Supernatant | | Immunogen | Cell membrane “ghosts” of human red blood cells. | | Specificity | Recognizes alpha-actinin in human type 1 slow twitch muscle fibers and on red blood cell membranes. Species Crossreactivity: Chicken, canine and porcine. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
