Activin B is a TGF- family member that exhibits a wide range of biological activities including regulation of embryogenesis, osteogenesis, hematopoiesis, reproductive physiology and hormone secretion from the hypothalamic, pituitary and gonadal glands. Activin B, like certain other members of the TGF- family, signals through the ActRII receptor (Activin Receptor type II). Biological Activity	The ED50 as determined by its ability to inhibit the proliferation of murine MPC-11 cells is <2ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 5x10e5 units/mg.
Storage and Stability	Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile buffer. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 3 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions may be made in PBS containing 2mg/ml albumin.
