| ADAM12 (A disintegrin and metalloprotease domain 12; also meltrin-alpha) is a 120kD type I transmembrane glycoprotein member of the metzincin family of proteases. It is synthesized as a 909aa preproprecursor that contains a 25kD proregion (aa29-207) and a 92kD mature molecule. Proteolytic cleavage in the Golgi removes the propeptide prior to cell-surface expression. A 68kD soluble splice form exists in pregnancy where 36aa replace the C-terminal 205aa (705-909). This circulating ADAM12 isoform remains associated with its prodomain via noncovalent linkage, possibly acting as an enzyme regulator. Over aa29-513, human ADAM12 shares 78% and 79% aa identity with bovine and mouse ADAM12, respectively. | | | Catalog # | A0859-25J | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot.
