| ADAM19 (a disintegrin and metalloprotease 19; also MADDAM and Meltrin- ) is a |
| 95-100kD member of the M12B peptidase family of enzymes. It is expressed on |
| multiple cell types including monocytes, fibroblasts, osteoblasts and dendritic cells. The |
| human ADAM19 proenzyme is a 931 amino acid (aa) type I transmembrane protein. It |
| contains a 178 aa cleavable proregion (aa 26-203) and a 497 aa extracellular domain |
| (ECD) (aa 204-702). The ECD contains a metalloprotease domain (aa 211-409), a |
| disintegrin region (aa 417-503) and a Cys-rich domain (aa 504-650). The ECD |
| circulates in plasma bound to 700kD 2-Macroglobulin. One splice variant shows an |
| alternate start site at Met71, while two isoforms show variations afterLys902. Over |
| aa 205-702, human ADAM19 is 87% aa identical to mouse ADAM19. |
