| Obesity is a condition where fatty tissue is increased to a point where it is a risk factor for certain health conditions or increased mortality. It is a growing health problem, affecting over 30% of United States adults, and 16% of children and adolescents. It is the second leading cause of preventable death after smoking. For these reasons, it has been an area of intense investigation. |

| Adipokines are a group of cytokines secreted by adipose tissue which include leptin, adiponectin, resistin, tumor necrosis factor- (TNF- ), and a group of C1q/tumor necrosis factor related proteins (CTRP). Leptin is a protein hormone which is involved in regulation of appetite and metabolism. Adiponectin is another protein hormone which is involved with modulation of glucose regulation and fatty acid catabolism. Adiponectin levels are inversely coorelated with body mass index (BMI). |
| Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. |
| Recommended Dilution | ELISA: To detect hAdipolean Variant by direct ELISA (using 100µl/well antibody solution) a concentration of at least 0.5µg/ml of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of 0.2-0.4ng/well of recombinant hAdipolean Variant. |
| Western Blot: To detect hAdipolean Variant by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hAdipolean Variant is 1.5-3.0ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. |
| Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. |
| Reconstitution | Reconstitute to 0.2mg/ml with sterile dH2O or sterile 40-50% glycerol for long term storage. |
| Storage and Stability | Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
