| ADRB3 is a transmembrane protein and member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family primarily expressed by adipose tissue, which acts as a regulator of lipolysis and heat production. The ADRB3 variant Arg-64 has been identified as a possible candidate gene linked with obesity, and to an increased susceptibility to non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). |
