Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is the most abundant protein in bovine plasma. BSA is produced in the liver and the concentration of BSA in plasma is 35-50mg/ml. The molecular mass is 69kD (1).

Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specificity	Recognizes bovine serum albumin (BSA). No crossreactivity with rabbit serum albumin. Reacts with HSA, but only a quarter as strong as the reaction with BSA. Crossreactivity with other species not tested. Reacts strongly with BSA. Strong reaction is seen in ELISA with bovine serum albumin coated directly onto the microtiter well. In Western blot after SDS-PAGE, reacts with bovine albumin.
