| Steroid receptors are ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to specific DNA sequences following activation by the appropriate hormone. Androgen Receptors (AR) have been found in a variety of tissues, including reproductive organs, central nervous system and skeletal muscle. | | | Catalog # | A2281-06 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry, Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot. | | Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | Immunohistochemistry: 1:100 staining of AR in rat brain results in intense nuclear staining. For fixation of frozen sections, 2% paraformaldehyde + 15% picric acid solution in phosphate buffer, pH 7.4 is recommended. | | Western Blot: detects ~110kD protein representing AR from rat brain homogenate. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS with 0.05% sodium azide. | | Purity | Whole antiserum | | Immunogen | Recombinant human Androgen Receptor, full length. Cellular localization: Nuclear | | Specificity | Recognizes human Androgen Receptor. It does not detect estrogen, progesterone, or glucocorticoid receptors. Species Crossreactivity: Mouse, non human primates and rat. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
