Steroid receptors are ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to specific DNA sequences following activation by the appropriate hormone. Androgen Receptors (AR) have been found in a variety of tissues, including reproductive organs, central nervous system and skeletal muscle.

Applications	Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry, Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot.
	Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions	Immunohistochemistry: 1:100 staining of AR in rat brain results in intense nuclear staining. For fixation of frozen sections, 2% paraformaldehyde + 15% picric acid solution in phosphate buffer, pH 7.4 is recommended.
	Western Blot: detects ~110kD protein representing AR from rat brain homogenate.
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
