| Angiopoeitin-1 (Ang-1) and Antiopoietin-2 (Ang2) are important for development of the endothelium, by regulating tyrosine phosphorylation of the membrane receptor Tie-2/Tek. Ang-1 binding to Tie-2/Tek causes phosphorylation of the receptor. Ang-2 competes for this binding, and thus blocks receptor phosphorylation. Ang-1 has potential fibrinogen-like domain at the carboxy terminus and coiled-coil regions in the amino terminus. Ang-1 is prominently expressed in the myocardium of atrium and ventricle, mesenchymal and smooth muscle cells surrounding most blood vessels, and lung. In the adult, Ang-1 is also expressed in the heart and liver. Ang 1 and Ang 2 antibodies recognize a band above 55 kD. Both antibodies show banding at 75 kD which resembles the original size, because these are soluble highly glycosylated proteins, which should run higher that the calculated molecular weight of 55 kD. | | | Catalog # | A2293-06 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 1:250-1:500 | | ELISA: 1:2500-1:10,000 | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Mouse | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as liquid in PBS, 0.1% sodium azide before the addition of glycerol to 40%. No stabilizing proteins added. | | Purity | Serum | | Immunogen | A synthetic peptide aa 21-40, NQRRNPENGGRRYNRIQHGQ corresponding to a region near the N-terminus of mouse angiopoietin 1 protein conjugated to KLH using maleimide. A residue of cysteine was added to the amino terminal end to facilitate coupling. | | Specificity | Recognizes mouse angiopoietin 1 at 75kD and shows no reactivity with angiopoietin 2 on mouse derived proteins. Species Crossreactivity: Human. Partial crossreactivity is noted with human angiopoietin 2. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
