| Angiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3) is a secreted glycoprotein that belongs to the angiopoietin family. It is expressed in the liver and circulates as 70kD, 50kD and 32kD species. These include full length ANGPTL3 as well as the proteolytically separated N- and C-terminal fragments which contain a coiled coil domain and fibrinogen-like domain, respectively. ANGPTL3 promotes an increase in circulating triglyceride levels by directly inhibiting lipoprotein lipase.
