Angiotensin II mediates its action by interacting with membrane receptor, Angiotensin II type 1 receptors. The signal is transmitted via G-proteins that activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. ATII receptors are integral membrane proteins of ~359-363aa and predicted to contain at least 7 transmembrane domains. The N and C-terminus are predicted to extracellular and cytoplasmic, respectively. Three isoforms of ATII receptors have been cloned. In rat type 1a (359aa) is expressed in the liver kidney, aorta, lung, uterus, ovary, spleen, heart, adrenal and vascular smooth muscles. Rat Type 1b (also known as AT3; 359aa) is found in liver, kidney, and aorta. Type 1c (177aa) has been detected in brain, kidney, liver, spleen and lung.

Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA. Western Blot, though not tested, may potentially be used as an application. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 using ECL. Detects ~45kD band. ELISA: 1:10,000-1:100,000 using 50-100ng of control peptide/well. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Control Peptide
A2295-07U: Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor, Human, Control Peptide (AT2)
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
