| Alpha-2 antiplasmin is a single-chain glycoprotein with a molecular weight of about 65000. The normal concentration in human plasma is 60ug/ml. Platelets contain significant amounts of the protein, which is released along with platelet factor 4, following thrombin stimulation. It can form 1:1 complexes with circulating plasmin. Alpha-2 antiplasmin is the most important inhibitor of plasmin-mediated fibrinolysis, but also capable of inactivating factor XIIa, kallikrein, factor XIa, thrombin and factor Xa. The importance of the alpha-2 antiplasmin as a regulator of the fibrinolytic system was detected by the discovery of a congenital deficiency. | | | Catalog # | A2298-13S | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoprecipitation, Immunoelectrophoresis and Double Radial Immunodiffusion. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Reconstitute in 1ml sterile ddH2O. Dilute further in PBS, pH 7.2. | | Purity | Serum | | Immunogen | Alpha-2 antiplasmin isolated from pooled human plasma | | Specificity | Recognizes human alpha-2 antiplasmin. A single precipitin line is obtained in bidimensional electrophoresis, immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony) which shows a reaction of full identity with the purified immunogen. Does not crossreact with any other human plasma proteins. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. | | Alternate names | Serpin Peptidase Inhibitor, Clade F (alpha-2 Antiplasmin, Pigment Epithelium Derived Factor), Member 2 |
