Antithrombin III (AT III) is a single chain glycoprotein of molecular mass 58kD with four glycosylation sites and three intra-molecular disulfide bonds. AT III is normally present in human plasma at a concentration of approx. 12.5mg/dl. It is the major inhibitor of thrombin. Inactivation of thrombin by AT-III occurs by formation of a covalent bond resulting in an inactive 11 stoichiometric complex between the two components.
ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add glycerol (40-50%)aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

SpecificitySpecific for human AT III, native and denatured. Epitope specificity differs from those of clones 6F26, 6F27, and 6F218.
Reacts strongly with AT III both native and denatured forms. Strong reaction is seen in ELISA with both native and denatured AT III directly coated onto the microtiter well and also when used as detection antibody in sandwich ELISA in combination with a polyclonal capture antibody.
