| AP-2 is a sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor first identified in mammalian cultured cells. In humans and mice, AP-2 belongs to a gene family that includes two other genes, AP-2b and AP-2.2. The AP-2 family proteins share a novel, highly conserved DNA binding and dimerization domain referred to as a basic helix-span-helix domain in their C-terminal halves, while their N-terminal portions have diverged considerably. AP-2 transcription factors have been suggested to exert key regulatory functions in vertebrate embryonic development, in tumorigenicity of various cancer cell types. The AP-2 gene family also plays a role in the control of cell growth and differentiation in breast cancer. | | | Catalog # | A2298-59 | | Suitable for use in Western Blot Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded sections after microwave treatment.Immunohistochemistry fixative formal saline with calcium paraffin embedded using 10 min microwave treatment). | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 3C106 | | Host | Mouse | | Concentration | ~1 mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | C-terminal peptide of AP-2 alpha. | | Specificity | Specific for AP-2 | | | Important Note | This product is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications. |
