Apolipoprotein A-1 (apo A-1) in human plasma is a major protein component of high density lipoprotein (HDL). The molecular mass is 24kD. Apo A-1 is a cofactor for enzymes involved in the normal turnover of cholesterol and is produced in the liver. Plasma concentration is 2.7-3.8mg/ml (1).

Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specificity	Recognizes human apo A-1from hserum/plasma when tested in sandwich ELISA in combination with a polyclonal antibody against apo A-1 and also in ELISA with purified apo A-1 or HDL directly coated onto the microtiterwell. In Western blot after SDS-PAGE, this antibody reacts with apo A-1 in reduced as well as in non-reduced forms. No crossreactivity is seen with human apolipoprotein B.
