Apo D is localized to steroid-responsive tissues (adrenal cortex, ovary, endometrium, prostate and pituitary). Apocrine epithelium within axillary skin exhibited strongly positive staining for Apo D and peripheral nerves, pituitary and renal tubules were also immunoreactive. Apo D, a progesterone binding glycoprotein of 24,000 dalton monomer molecular size, is a constituent of high density lipoprotein in plasma and was first isolated in large quantity as GCDFP-24, the major protein component of most human breast cyst fluids.

	Applications:
	Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues). Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution	Immunohistochemistry: (Primary antibody): 1:200 for biotin based detection s;ystems. For optimal staining, the sections should be pretreated with an antigen unmasking solution, primary antibody should be incubated for 20-60 min at RT.
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
