| Apolipoprotein E serves as a ligand for low density receptors and participates in the transport and redistribution of cholesterol and other lipids. Other functions include immunoregulation and cell growth modulation and differentiation. Apo E is thought to be involved in tissue repair as increase amounts of the protein are found at sites or peripheral nerve injury and regeneration. A mutant form is associated with familial type hyperlipoproteinemia. | | | Catalog # | A2299-76A2 | | Human Apo E is not easy to isolate and purify, but rabbit Apo E can be obtained in large amounts. The human aa sequence of Apo E3 is about 80% homologous to that of rabbit Apo E, hence it is possible to use the rabbit apolipoprotein to raise antibodies to human Apo E. | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Goat | | Source | Rabbit | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a liquid, 0.01% sodium azide. | | Purity | Serum | | Immunogen | Rabbit Apolipoprotein E. | | Specificity | Recognizes rabbit Apolipoprotein E.
