| Astrovirus belongs to the Astroviridae viral family. It is a single stranded RNA virus in a non-enveloped icosahedral capsid. In humans, astrovirus causes gastroenteritis, characterised by diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, fever and abdominal pain.
