Na,K-ATPase is an integral membrane protein complex that hydrolyzes ATP to maintain the transmembrane gradients of Na+ and K+ found in most mammalian cells. The enzyme is comprised of an alpha and Beta subunit. The á-polypeptide has been shown to be the catalytically active subunit, whereas the Beta-polypeptide is glycosylated and appears to be necessary for the assembly and transport of the sodium pump to the plasma membrane. Na,K-ATPase Beta-1 subunit is expressed, exclusively, in epithelial cells.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended DilutionsWestern Blot: 1:2500 (ECL). Demonstates a very broad banding pattern, typical of glycosylated proteins, at 35kD. May see multiple bands migrating between 35-55kD.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.
Source Ascites
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
