| BCL2-like protein 2, also known as BCL2L2, is a member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins that regulates outer mitochondrial membrane permeability. BCL2L2 is an anti apoptotic member that prevents release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria intermembrane space into the cytosol. Expression of this gene in cells has been shown to contribute to reduced cell apoptosis under cytotoxic conditions.
