proBMP-2 is the pro-protein of BMP-2 and processed by proteases into mature BMP-2. ProBMP-2 Human Recombinant is the precursor of BMP-2 which has 3 intramolecular cysteine bridges is a homodimer, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 337 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 85,726D. Recombinant, Human proBMP-2 administration leads to ectopic bone formation in rats (Hillger et al., 2005). Rh proBMP-2 is recombinantly expressed in Escherichia coli, native protein is obtained upon refolding of inclusion body material.
