Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP2) is a disulfide-bonded homodimeric protein with an apparent molecular weight of 26kD. BMP2 regulates similiarly to its nearest homolog BMP-4 diverse fundamental processes during embryonic development: BMP2 and other BMP proteins have great potential for medical therapeutic applications, in particular because they allow or at least accelerate the ossification of extensive bone lesions. BMP2 lacks the natural N-terminus which results in a 15-20 fold increase of specific activity. BMP2 is a heparin binding protein.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended DilutionELISA: 0.5ug/ml; Detects 0.2-0.4ng/well of recombinant human BMP-2 by direct ELISA (using 100ul/well antibody solution).
Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml; Detects 1.5-3ng/lane of recombinant human BMP-2 under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Note Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
