| BMPs (bone morphogenetic proteins) belong to the large group of growth and differentiation factors from the TGF-beta superfamily. These Ligands mediate numerous physiological processes. BMPs initiate, promote, and maintain cartilage and bone morphogenesis, differentiation and regeneration. The amino acid sequences of homologous BMPs from different mammalian species are highly conserved, some are even identical in several species e.g. mouse, rat and human BMP-2, and bovine and human BMP-10 and -11. At this time BMP-13/CDMP-2 expression has been found in the hypertrophic chondrocytes of ossifying long bone centers. Recombinant, human BMP-13/CDMP-2 is a 13.5kD homodimeric disulfide-linked protein consisting of 120 amino acids. | | | Catalog # | B2553-40 | | Source | E. coli | | Form | Sterile filtered solution lyophilized without additives. | | Stability | The lyophilized protein is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at -20°C. Reconstituted BMP-13/CDMP-2 should be stored in working aliquots at 20°C. | | Purity | 98% by SDS-PAGE | | Endotoxin | 0.1ng/ug | | Reconstitution | We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in water containing BSA (50ug of BSA per 1ug of protein) to a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/ml. Note: Due to solubility reasons the protein should be kept at low pH. Further dilutions should be done in water and stored at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for future use. | | Biological Activity | The ED50 was determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 chondrogenic cells in the range of 2-3ug/ml. | | AA Sequence | TAFASRHGKR HGKKSRLRCS KKPLHVNFKE LGWDDWIIAP LEYEAYHCEG VCDFPLRSHL EPTNHAIIQT LMNSMDPGST PPSCCVPTKL TPISILYIDA GNNVVYKQYE DMVVESCGCR | | Country of Origin | USA | | Molecular Weight | 27kDa | | Source | E. coli | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
