| Brain Heart Infusion Agar is used for cultivating a wide variety of fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms, including bacteria, yeasts and fungi | | | Catalog # | B2701-05 | | Description | Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) Agar has proved to be effective in the cultivation of a wide variety of microorganisms, including many types of pathogens. BHI Agar is currently recommended as a general medium for aerobic bacteria and for the primary recovery of fungi from clinical specimens. BHI Agar, with 10% Sheep Blood can be used to isolate systemic fungi that may grow poorly on nonenriched media. A high recovery rate for Histoplasma capsulatum can be obtained with the addition of horse blood to the medium. | | Storage | Store the sealed bottle containing the dehydrated medium at 2 to 30.0°C. Once opened and recapped, place the container in a low humidity environment at the same storage temperature. Protect it from moisture and light.
