| Human brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a secreted protein which is a member of the natriuretic peptide family. BNP is a cardiac hormone, which is synthesized as a pro-hormone (proBNP), and is proteolytically cleaved to release a biologically active fragment (BNP), and an inactive fragment (NT-proBNP) into the circulation. | | | Catalog # | B2702-03K | | BNP is predominantly secreted from the cardiac ventricles in response to volume and pressure overload, and results in a number of biological activities including natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system. A high concentration of BNP in the bloodstream is indicative of heart failure. | | Cellular Localization | Secreted | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 8J361 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | PBS with 0.1% sodium azide, pH 7.4 | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Synthetic peptide: LSELQVEQTSLEPLQESP, corresponding to amino acids 28 - 45 of Human proBNP. | | Specificity | Species Crossreactivity: Crossreacts with Human. Not yet tested in other species. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
