| In cardiac tissue brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is synthesized as 134 amino acid precursor (prepro-BNP), which is cleaved by proteases to form a 26 aa "signal" peptide and a 108 aa pro-BNP. Proteolytic digestion of pro-BNP results in formation of 76 aa amino-terminal NT-proBNP and biologically active 32 aa BNP hormone molecule. Both proBNP and NTproBNP circulate in human plasma and have been proposed as markers for early diagnosis of left ventricular dysfunction as well as prognostic markers of possible cardiac complications at patients with heart failure. | | | Catalog # | B2702-03L | | Cellular Localization | Secreted | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
