| Human brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a secreted protein which is a member of the natriuretic peptide family. BNP is a cardiac hormone, which is synthesized as a pro-hormone (proBNP), and is proteolytically cleaved to release a biologically active fragment (BNP), and an inactive fragment (NT-proBNP) into the circulation. | | | Catalog # | B2702-05A | | BNP is predominantly secreted from the cardiac ventricles in response to volume and pressure overload, and results in a number of biological activities including natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system. A high concentration of BNP in the bloodstream is indicative of heart failure. | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:2000-1:8000 Staining of BNP in tissue sections is abolished in the presence of 100nmol BNP. There is no inhibition of staining with ANP. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Recommended Secondary AntibodiesI1903-30U | IgG, H&L, X-adsorbed (HRP) ShxRb | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Rat | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in 0.09% sodium azide. | | Purity | Serum | | Specificity | Recognizes rat brain natriuretic peptide. Staining of BNP in tissue sections is abolished in the presence of 100nmol BNP. There is no inhibition of staining with ANP. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
