BNP is a cardiac hormone, which is synthesized as a pro-hormone (proBNP), and is proteolytically cleaved to release a biologically active fragment (BNP), and an inactive fragment (NT-proBNP) into the circulation. | | | Catalog # | B2702-29R | | BNP is predominantly secreted from the cardiac ventricles in response to volume and pressure overload, and results in a number of biological activities including natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system. A high concentration of BNP in the bloodstream is indicative of heart failure. | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (frozen) and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
