| PTK6 (protein tyrosine kinase 6, BRK or FLJ42088), a 451-amino acid protein of about 5kD, encodes a cytoplasmic nonreceptor protein kinase that may function as an intracellular signal transducer in epithelial tissues. Its presence in the nucleus appears to be linked to suppression of tumor progression. The encoded protein has been shown to undergo autophosphorylation. It is present at very high levels in the colon, small intestine, and prostate, and at low levels in some fetal tissues. It is expressed at low levels in some breast tumors, but not in normal breast tissue. It is also found in melanocytes, but it is not expressed in the heart, brain, placenta, lungs, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, or pancreas. Overexpression of this gene in mammary epithelial cells leads to sensitization of the cells to epidermal growth factor and results in a partially transformed phenotype. | | | Catalog # | B2765-03A | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
