C1q together with C1r and C1s composes the C1 macromolecule, the first component of the classical complement pathway. It functions as recognition unit by binding to immunoglobulins (IgM and IgG). C1q binding to IgG and IgM immune complexes activates C1r and C1s, which are bound to C1q and so initiates the classical pathway of complement activation.

Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
