| CA19–9, a carbohydrate antigenic determinant identified as a sialylated lacto-N-fucopentose II, is an oligosaccharide which is biochemically related to the sialyl Lewis a (sialyl Lea) blood group substance. CA19–9 is detected is most adenocarcinomas of the pancreas and stomach, and many colon and gall bladder cancers. The antigen is also expressed in approximately half of primary and metastatic ovarian tumors. The immunostaining pattern of CA19–9 antigen may be of value in predicting the prognosis of patients with colorectal carcinoma. In normal tissues, positive staining is observed in columnar epithelium of the pancreas, stomach, liver, gall bladder and in bronchial glands of the lung. | | | Catalog # | C0075-29 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
