| Cadherins are a family of transmembrane glycoproteins responsible for maintaining the integrity of tissue and are involved in cell differentiation, cell migration and intracellular adhesion through a calcium dependent mechanism characterized by homotypic adhesion.Their highly conserved cytoplasmic domains associated with catenins, thus mediating contact between cadherins and the microfilaments of cytoskeleton. Each cadherin subclass, shows a unique tissue distribution with E-cadherin expressed in epithelial cells and P-cadherin restricted to decidua tissue and the basal or lower layers of stratified epithelium. Cadherins are expressed in a tissue specific manner and and are required for assembly of cells into solid tissue. Cadherins play an important part in tumor invasion and metastasis. | | | Catalog # | C0107-03H | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
