| E-Cadherin, also known as L-CAM (Liver Cell Adhesion Molecule), and CD324, is an epithelial cell adhesion molecule which plays an important role in the formation of cell-cell contacts in epithelia. This early adhesion event between epithelial cells is a prerequisite for the assembly of all elements of the junctional complex and as such is important in maintaining epithelial integrity. E-Cadherin may also play a key role in tumor suppression. Over 90% of malignancies are carcinomas, and one of the prerequisites for the release of carcinoma cells from the primary site appears to be a defect in intercellular adhesion mediated by the absence of E-cadherin expression. Thus, expression of E-cadherin could be an important parameter for determination of the invasive potential of epithelial neoplasms, and for the transition of neoplasm from benign to malignancy. | | | Catalog # | C0108-25Y | | Applications | Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Neutralization and Immunohistochemistry.
