| Calcitonin is a 32aa peptide which can be demonstrated in C cells of the normal and hyperplastic thyroid. Staining for calcitonin may be used for the identification of a spectrum of C cell proliferative abnormalities ranging from C cell hyperplasia to invasive tumors. Staining for calcitonin in medullary carcinoma of the thyroid produces a fine granular pattern in the cytoplasm. Amyloid deposits within the tumor may also exhibit varying degrees of calcitonin activity. | | | Catalog # | C0115-10X | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunohistochemistry: 1:300 for 10min at RT | | Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissues sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10min followed by cooling at RT for 20min | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | Thyroid medullary carcinoma | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
