Cardiotrophin-1 is a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines which includes IL-6, Leukemia Inhibitory Factor, Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor, Oncostatin M and Interleukin 11. The receptor for Cardiotrophin-1 is gp130 (CD130). Cardiotrophin-1 was originally identified by its ability to stimulate cardiac hypertrophy.
