Clone Host Grade Applications
Polyclonal Rabbit Affinity Purified E B IP IC
Caspase 1 (ICE, interleukin-1beta converting enzyme) is a member of the ICE family of cysteine proteases. Caspase 1 exists in many cells as an inactive 45kD proenzyme and is cleaved into 20kD and 10kD subunits which form the active caspase 1. Casapse 1 cleaves the inactive form of interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) to generate the active from of this pro-inflammatory cytokine. Like the other caspases, Caspase 1 plays a role in apoptosis. Overexpression of Caspase 1 in cells induced apoptosis, and Caspase 1-mediated apoptosis can be blocked by CrmA, a selective inhibitor of several caspases.
