Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Ascites E B
Caspases are cysteine proteases, expressed as inactive precursors, that mediate apoptosis by proteolysis of specific substrates. Caspases have the ability to cleave after aspartic acid residues. There are two classes of caspases involved in apoptosis; initiators (activation by receptor cluster) and effectors (activation by mitochondrial permeability transition). Proapoptotic signals autocatalytically activate initiator caspases, such as Caspase-8 and Caspase-9. Activated initiator caspases then process effector caspases, such as Caspase-3 and Caspase-7, which in turn cause cell collapse. Effector Caspase 3 cleaves numerous substrates to effect the morphological changes associated with apoptosis.
Catalog #C2087-01
Positive control Human kidney 293 cell lysates
ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blotting. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionWestern Blotting: 1:500-1:1000. A band is seen at ~32kD for the inactive form of Caspase 3 and ~17-22kD for the active form of Caspase 3
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
