| This Catalase BioAssay™ Kit detects high pico-unit of catalase in samples using either Absorbance- (570nm) or Fluorescence- (Ex/Em 535/587nm) based methods. Samples from mammalian species can be from cell and tissue culture supernatants, urine, plasma and serum, as well as many other biological fluids, growth medium, food, etc. | | | Catalog # | C2090-10 | | Catalase (EC 1.11.1.6) is a ubiquitous antioxidant enzyme that is present in nearly all living organisms. It functions to catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H202) to water and oxygen. The Catalase BioAssay™ Kit provides a highly sensitive, simple, direct and HTS-ready assay for measuring Catalase activity in biological samples. In the assay, catalase first reacts with H2O2 to produce water and oxygen, the unconverted H2O2 reacts with Oxidation/Reduction probe to produce a product, which can be measured at 570nm (Colorimetric method) or at Ex/Em=535/587nm (fluorometric method). Catalase activity is inversely proportional to the signal. The kit detects high pico-units of catalase in samples. | | Kit Components | C2090-10A: Catalase *Assay Buffer, 1x25ml | | C2090-10B: Oxidation/Reduction Probe (in DMSO), 1x200ul | | C2090-10D: HRP, 1x1 vial | | C2090-10E: Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2, 3%; 0.88M), 1x25ul | | C2090-10F: Stop Solution, 1x1ml | | C2090-10G: Catalase Positive Control, 1x1 vial | | Storage and Stability | Store the kit at -20°C. Protect from light. Allow *C2090-10A: Catalase Assay Buffer to warm to RT before use. After reconstitution, components are stable for 2 weeks at 4°C or for 1 month at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vials after thawing and prior to removing the caps. | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
