| The catenins (a, b and g) are ubiquitously expressed, cytoplasmic proteins associated with E-cadherin at cellular junctions. Beta-catenin also binds to N-cadherin and co-immunoprecipitates with APC. Cadherin/catenin complexes are linked to the cytoskeleton via a direct association between a-actinin and a-catenin. Increases tyrosine phosphorylation can disrupt catenin-cadherin complexes, influencing cellular adhesion. | | | Catalog # | C2096-60A | | Comments | This antibody is excellent for staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues. | | Epitope | C-terminal. | | Applications | Western Blot: (Ab 2ug/ml for 2 hours at RT) | | Immunopricipitation | | Immunohistology (Formalin/paraffin): (Ab 1:250 for 10 min at RT) [Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.] | | Positive Control | MCF-7 cells. Breast carcinoma | | Cellular Localization | Cytoplasmic and cell membrane | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~0.2mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in 10mM PBS, pH 7.6, 0.2% BSA and 15mM sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | A synthetic peptide from the C-terminus of the beta-catenin protein. | | Specificity | Recognizes beta Catenin. Species Crossreactivity: Human and Mouse. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
