| Beta-catenin is an adherens junction protein, which mediates cell-cell adhesion, cell-cell communication and contributes to cytoskeletal integrity. It is similar to the product of the Drosophila segment polarity gene armadillo. Like armadillo, beta-catenin is part of the E cadherin multiprotein complex that regulates pattern formation at several stages of embryogenesis. In addition beta-catenin is involved in wound healing and tumor cell metastasis. Beta-catenin is part of the Wnt signaling cascade. It interacts with Tcf and Lef to activate gene transcription and regulates cell growth. Beta-catenin accumulation has been observed in various cancers, especially in colorectal tumors and hepatoblastoma. Beta-catenin-mediated transcription is down regulated when the protein binds to the tumor suppressor protein APC. | | | Catalog # | C2096-64E | | Applications | Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunocytochemistry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry.
